Thomas Jefferson – if you are a loyal reader of More than Money the Newsletter you know that I have quoted Thomas Jefferson (or Tom as I’m allowed to call him after all these years of our friendship) many times in our letters. In these turbulent times it is quite dangerous to admit friendship with any historical figure who had flaws and Tom was flawed no doubt. And, since all of us – even the very best of us – are flawed, any of us can be the target of hatred for valuing any person – historical or otherwise.
That, of course, is a steaming pile of hoo-haa. It is also a strategy employed by hate filled people to silence the voices of anyone who oppose them.
Tom’s views on elections are very important as we find ourselves just weeks way from one of – if not the – most important elections in our lifetimes. He understood that a very active minority can actually decide the direction of our entire nation:
“We do not have government by the majority.
We have government by the majority who participate.”
I have complete confidence that the vast majority of Americans are appalled by what they see happening in the streets of our cities, the halls of our Congress, and news outlets around our country. The question is – will the majority of those Americans vote in November or not?
Please circle November 3rd on your calendar and vote. Please vote (safely) in person. Please bring at least one other American with you to the polls. Please call, email, and write everyone you know and encourage them to vote.
The future of our country will be determined by the majority who vote on November 3rd.
God bless all of you and God bless America.
Please allow us to serve you and those you love.
Thank you,
Gene
P.S. Start today to organize your friends and family and vote.
