Friendship is a beautiful thing. I recently saw a statement that said (approximately) ‘friendship is the sweetener of life’. The longer I am allowed to enjoy this spinning green world the less I appreciate things and the more I appreciate relationships and experiences.
Seneca, a Roman philosopher who lived two thousand (2,000) years ago had this to say about the fruits of friendship:
“. . . nothing delights the mind so much as fond and loyal friendship. What a blessing it is to have hearts that are ready and willing to receive all your secrets in safety, with whom you are less afraid to share knowledge of something than keep it to yourself, whose conversation soothes your distress, whose advice helps you make up your mind, whose cheerfulness dissolves your sorrow, whose very appearance cheers you up!”
You might not need to look much beyond your own family to find your friends. You might find them in church or at the gym or where you volunteer. You might well find them in the offices of your financial advisor. You might even find a dear friend in your relationship with God.
Joys are infinitely better when shared. Sorrows easier to bear. Faith and hope are strengthened. Directions become more clear. And all the beauty to be found in our world is more beautiful with a friend by your side. Friendship.
Please allow us to serve you and those you love.
Thank you,
Gene
P.S. Get together with a friend you haven’t seen in far too long. And take a bottle of wine with you.
