Jim Rohn – was a successful businessman, author, speaker, and was often described as a ‘business philosopher’. Born on a small Idaho farm in 1930, he died at his home in Beverly Hills in 2009 with a reported net worth in excess of $500 million.
I was 16 when I read my first book by Dale Carnegie. Napoleon Hill soon followed. W. Clement Stone, Frank Bettger, and Maxwell Maltz as well. Throughout my life I have been blessed to find authors who spoke to me personally – many from beyond the grave.
I was fortunate to find Jim Rohn almost 30 years ago. I own all of his books, most of his recordings and videos, and even had the honor to meet him in person. He had a profound influence on this boy born next to a Pennsylvania farm many years ago. Whenever he passes, he will have had success that went far beyond any dreams he may have started with all those years ago in that tiny home.
Jim Rohn was the most practical ‘philosopher’ I have ever known. He lived in the real world. His world, as ours, had forces that battled against everyone who had dreams. Politics. Health challenges. Economic headwinds. External challenges. Fear. Depression. Ignorance. Internal challenges. All working hard to make us believe the world has never been this bad.
Jim and I agree that we must fight against every force that wants us to believe we can’t have a miraculous, joyous, successful life. Here is Jim’s warning:
“We must all wage an intense, lifelong battle against the constant downward pull. If we relax, the bugs and weeds of negativity will move into the garden and take away everything of value.”
I know these are trying days. I know many of you are challenged by health concerns, by financial concerns, by family concerns, and by concerns for the future of our great nation.
I urge you to be positive. I urge you to follow my friend, Shane Burcaw’s, philosophy of ‘positivity’. I urge to you take heart, be energetic, and fight any and all efforts to pull you down – internal or external. I encourage you to dream and share your dreams with like-minded people who know that – in spite of all appearances – these days are not the ‘worst we’ve ever seen’. They are simply the current challenges our world gives us. Let’s step up, be leaders in our families and communities showing the good and beautiful there is to be found in this amazing garden God has given us.
God bless all of you and God bless America.
Please allow us to serve you and those you love.
Thank you,
Gene
P.S. Don’t let our political leaders steal your joy. Make the conscious decision today that you will not allow self-important puppets to take from you what is really important. Love your families, love your God, and love the United States of America. And reap the joy that all this love will bring you.
